L. James Lemmen. MD.
Dr. Lemmen is a licensed physician and licensed attorney in the state of Michigan as well as the state of Colorado. Until 2007, Dr. Lemmen commuted between Colorado and Michigan on a monthly basis to visit family, practice medicine in the Muskegon area and provide consultation with Williams, Hughes & Cook, PLLC. He is now a full-time resident of the state of Michigan. Dr. Lemmen has been of counsel with Williams, Hughes & Cook, PLLC since 2001, shortly after passing the Michigan Bar Exam. Dr. Lemmen’s practice is strictly limited to research, writing and review of medical records. He does not take on personal clients.
Dr. Lemmen is a Muskegon native. He graduated from Hope College in 1976, summa cum laude. While at Hope he was published in the Journal of Medicinal Chemistry. He graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1980 (with distinction), then served a one-year general surgical internship at Michigan and one year of a neurosurgery residency at Tuft- New England Medical Center in Boston. He did a three year Family Practice residency at E.W. Sparrow Hospital in Lansing, then was in private practice as a family practitioner in Muskegon for 11 years.
During the course of his medical practice, Dr. Lemmen elected to return to alma matter in Ann Arbor for law school. He graduated in 2001 and became licensed to practice law in the same year. Dr. Lemmen blames his enthusiasm for the law on law partner Doug Hughes. Jim roomed with Doug Hughes while at Hope College, and Mr. Hughes’ enthusiasm for the law kindled Dr. Lemmen’s interest. In Dr. Lemmen’s mythical leisure and when he takes a break from the practice of law, he still moonlights as a physician at Northside Immediate Care in Muskegon, Michigan. |
