Shon is originally from Iowa, where she graduated with Honors from Wartburg College. At her Alma matter, she was voted outstanding senior in political science and psychology. She also was named an NCAA Academic All-American softball pitcher two years in a row.
Shon attend Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska on a full scholarship. She wrote for law review and was President of the Environmental Law Society. Shon graduated in 1994 from law school and has been working in Western Michigan since that time.
Shon’s experience spans corporate litigation, first amendment litigation and insurance defense. She has done extensive criminal litigation and assisted in contractual negotiations for many clients. Shon’s knowledge in these other areas of law, make her a well-rounded and ideal attorney for clients that have multiple issues in family law matters that may include family businesses, corporate interests, real estate holdings or other significant financial issues. Shon’s background in psychology also makes her well-versed in understanding family law dynamics and the emotional turmoil involved in family law matters.
Shon’s strong litigation skills are balanced with her mediation skills. Shon is a trained family law mediator and received her certificate from the State Bar of Michigan. She actively mediates for the local court systems, her clients and on a referral basis. |
